Nashville, Tennessee (PRWEB) April 4, 2008 -- Shelley Anderson, who fired a world-record 59 as an amateur, has turned professional. She signed on with KIS Golf, the golf company that manufactured the clubs she used to set the all-time mark for a woman amateur golfer.
"It has been a life-long dream of mine to play professional golf," said Anderson, a three-time Tennessee State Amateur Champion and graduate of The University of Tennessee. "My relationship with KIS Golf allows me to fulfill that dream, and I am looking forward to showing the world what KIS Clubs are capable of shooting."
Anderson's life changed dramatically when she toured KIS Country Club and Golf Academy in Nashville, TN in March of 2007. She learned about the revolutionary golf club and instruction program that KIS Golf offered, and decided that the simple philosophy of the company was just what her game needed.
She was right. After a few sessions with KIS Director of Golf Mike Wine and a few months of practice, she knocked eight shots off of her previous best score of 67.
"I had a message on my phone from Shelley, and she said she had shot a 59 to win the Clarksville City Womens Championship," said Wine, who has coached several professional golfers. "I thought she must have said 69, because 59 is just insane. That's a pretty good team scramble score."
Wine called Shelley and asked her, and she said, "Thirteen under par, Mike. Do the math."
Anderson will represent KIS Golf on various mini-tours during 2008, as well as entertain partners, investors, and members of KIS Golf. She will attempt to qualify for the LPGA Tour this fall.
"We are so proud to have Shelley as part of our KIS family," said KIS CEO George McGill. "Our company is committed to bringing women into the game of golf, and Shelley's talent and commitment show all women that golf is a game for everyone."
KIS Golf is one of the country's fastest growing chain of golf facilities. The company currently has ten facilities open, and expects to open 8 more during the next year. For more information, please visit www.kisgolf.com.
